Readings from

“Rachel's Words ”

spoken by the

Rev Helen Cox

Reading times – (to be advised)
Saturday 16 June 2007
Sunday 17 June 2007

Rev Helen Cox reads from the play “My Name is Rachel Corrie” outside
St Paul’s Cathedral in Melbourne at a Women for Palestine vigil held in
Rachel’s memory on the anniversary of her death 16 March 2003

Earlier this year, the Rev Helen Cox gave the most emotional and sensitive readings from "Rachel's Words".  Women for Palestine had arranged for a vigil in memory of Rachel’s horrific death 4 years earlier, when acting as a human shield, she was deliberately crushed beneath an Israeli bulldozer as she tried to stop yet another of the hundreds of home demolitions in the Gaza Strip designed to break the Palestinian spirit of defiance in the face of a long and brutal occupation.  Rev Helen Cox will repeat these readings, and in listening, the audience will soon be moved by the horrors that Rachel saw, never realising that as she wrote, she too would become a victim of Israel’s most efficient weapon – the bulldozer.
